Meet the Staff & Coalition

Linda Major
Project Director lmajor1@unl.edu

Linda Major has over 20 years experience in community organizing and substance abuse prevention. She currently serves as UNL's Director of Student Involvement. Prior to her work on the grant, she was the Alcohol and Drug Coordinator for NU's Community Education Office. Linda won the "Campus Leadership" Award from the American Public Health Association and the "Outstanding Prevention Professional" Award from the Lincoln/Lancaster County Substance Abuse Action Coalition, a collection of prevention and treatment professionals across the county.

Tom Workman, Ph.D.
Assistant Director, Information Strategies tworkman3@unl.edu

Tom Workman holds Ph.D. in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Rhetoric, Media Studies, and Health Communication.  His dissertation is on the collegiate drinking culture. He has worked in the field of communication for over 20 years as a consultant, trainer, and practioner. Tom is on the Associate Editor board for Health Communication, an academic journal, and has chapters in several books on the subject of health communication and college drinking. He also teaches courses in the Department of Communication Studies at UNL.

Jane Reynolds

Jane Reynolds has over 15 years experience working in substance abuse prevention and treament. She was the Director of Training at the Nebraska Council to Prevent Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and most recently served as the Interim Executive Director for the Asian Community and Culture Center.

Julie serves as one of the team leaders for Student Involvement's Information Strategies department. At UNL to complete her MA in Communication, Julie has expertise in natural resources in Nebraska and comes to us from Chadron, NE.

Duane Shell is a Research Assistant Professor in the College of Health and Human Performance and the Site Evaluator through the Harvard University School of Public Health for the NU Directions grant.
